There are a number of common agile misunderstandings. The list includes:
Agile is free of process control
The Engineers are running the project
There is no defined scope
There is no control of costs
It’s only suitable for software or IT projects
The Product Owner directs the team
Limited commitment is made to milestones
Any scope that is defined is constantly changing
Product Owner writes all the requirements (user stories)
Things are made faster
Agile is free of process control- > Process requires daily monitoring
The Engineers are running the project- > Clear senior direction is provided
There is no defined scope - > Short-term scope is detailed, long-term is less detailed
There is no control of costs- > Drawn-down on a quarterly basis
It’s only suitable for software or IT projects - > Suitable for all types, including, HR Procurement and Support
The Product Owner directs the team - >Product Owner defines the goals, the team is self-organising
Limited commitment is made to milestones - > Key milestones are agreed, scope is changed
Any scope that is defined is constantly changing- > Scope is relatively fixed, the priority and detail is changing
Product Owner writes all the requirements (user stories) - > Any team member can write them, Product owner has final approval
Things are made faster - > Most important things are made first
