Discouraging Leadership from scrutinising the Agile Team

It’s important leaders take a step back from the day to day activities of an Agile team. Through the setting of clear and concise Agile Team goals, typically in the form of objective and key results, individual Agile teams are left to focus on determine how to achieve them, whilst leadership remain completely focused on measuring progress at regular intervals.

Creating a clear distinction between the what and how will ensure the Agile team becomes self-organising as they decide how best to achieve the objectives set by leadership.

Leadership are invited to scrutinise the Agile team’s progress at regular intervals as part of a stakeholder review ceremony. These regular intervals provide an opportunity to refine the objectives in response to unforeseen factors or make resource changes to aid the Agile teams reach a pace of work that they can maintain indefinitely.
